NARROW BAND UVB

 

Narrow band UVB is a form of phototherapy (light treatment) using cabinets with special light bulbs emitting a particular type of light - (311nm)

 

Main uses:

 

 

  • Psoriasis

  • Eczema

  • Vitiligo

 

Treatment is typically performed three times a week. Psoraisis and eczema require 21-30 treatments whereas vitiligo requires many more.

EXCIMER LASER

 

A form of targeted phototherapy allowing specific areas to be treated. Uninvolved areas are not exposed to light. Treatment time is very short.

 

A new Excimer light (ExSys 308) has just been received from Germany by the practice. Patients now have access to the latest technology with this device.

 

Excimer Light is excellent for treatment of vitiligo, psoriasis and eczema.

NdYAG LASER

 

Ideal for leg veins, nose veins and Campbell de Morgan spots (red spots on the body)

 

 

IPL (INTENSE PULSED LIGHT)

 

The IPL used in the practice is manufactured by Elipse in Denmark.

 

Uses include:

 

Hair removal

Skin rejuvenation

Facial telangiectasia (blood vessels)

Solar lentigenes (liver spots / age spots)

Rosacea

Chloasma

MICRODERMABRASION

 

Fine sandy particles are applied on the skin under pressure - much like sand-blasting, using Corundum particles (Aluminium oxide).

 

Uses:

 

Chloasma

Acne scarring

Post Roaccutane

BOTOX AND FILLERS

 

Frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet are best treated with Botox. The nasolabial folds and Marionette lines benefit from injectible fillers like Juvederm.

 

Botox is also extemely effective in stopping sweating of the armpits and the palms.

MOLE MAPPING

 

The practice uses a Vidix device from Italy. It enables storage of images and later retrieval.

 

Mole mapping is recommended for following up moles and looking for changes over time. It is a procedure which helps in the early detection of melanoma.

PDT (PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY)

 

A technique used for the treatment of solar keratoses (sunspots) and Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC).

INNOPEN MICRONEEDLING

 

A new addition from the World Congress of Dermatology in Canada is the microneedling technique using the InnoPen.

 

The success of microneedling really depends on appropriate serums used during the procedure. Treatment is highly individualised. Microneedling is a means to introduce various beneficial solutions straight into the skin, where they exert their effects.

 

The most popular reasons for performing microneedling are:

  • Acne scarring

  • Chloasma (pigmentation)

  • Rings around the eyes

  • Stretch marks

  • Cellulite

  • Alopecia areata

CHEMICAL PEELS

 

The preferred peel offered in the practice is ENERPEEL from Tebitech in Italy.

 

Peels include Mandelic acid, Glycolic acid, Pyruvic acid, Salicylic acid and TCA. Many are available in different strengths.

 

The apppropriate peel is chosen depending on the expected outcome and each is customised to suit individual needs.
